(Episode 9)

"Aah!"

A scream came out of his throat, and the white light felt as if it were a burning flame.

Carina rolled over the hard marble floor.

It felt like a fire that could not be turned off all over.

Carina kept screaming, but no one helped her.

‘I’m going to die.’

Carina banged her fists on the floor. She couldn't have died like this. Because...!

'When I die, the kids...!'

The thought flashed with it. The children knew only that Carina had gone to buy new clothes.

The children have no money, so the owner of the inn will only throw the two into the street in a day.

'You're probably thinking I ran away with the money.'

Tears of regret and worry, not pain, filled Carina's eyes.

Thors is warm, and he can not die on the street.

If you are a little more lucky, someone who is kind may take the children to the orphanage, but they will not be able to erase their mouths forever.

'You think you've been abandoned twice.'

Carina regretted and regretted.

Why did he come into this jewelry store?

Why did the jeweler not jump out as soon as he left him, but looked at the cursed stone.

Why...!

Right then,

I felt the cold in my right hand.

Carina hung on as if the cold were a touch of salvation.

'Someone put water on it - more, more.'

I could not feel the water, but it did not sink in the cold.

Rather, she started Carina's right hand and finally cooled her left hand, shoulder, chest, and finally body.

'Water...isn't it?'

The question rose in the midst of the heat.

The cold was not cooled over time, and the presence felt stronger as the time passed.

Like, an ice sculpture hugging her.

How long has it been?

The pain that felt like eternal hell finally subsided. But it couldn’t be worse yet.

If I was at risk for a while, I would have just swallowed it again.

Carina opened her eyes very slowly.

“...?”

The white light blinded me a while ago, but now it was all dark and I could not see.

Fearing that she was blind, Carina raised her hands to rub them.

But both hands were held in the hands of a hard man, unable to move at all.

“...!”

Only then could Carina grasp the situation.

He was holding his hands to a stranger, his face buried in his chest.

The reason I could not see was because the man was wearing a black silver top.

Carina screamed and shook the man off.

I staggered back a step or two and saw a strange man looking at him with a embarrassed face.

It was a young man who thought he was handsome in this situation.

Her silver hair broke over her face.

Is he three or four years older than Carina?

It was as cold as a breather in the ice-strewn piece, but I felt humanity in the panic.

Carina turned her head in embarrassment, but her blue eyes continued to follow her as if she had put a celadon fly.

Karina, in a panic, stammered a few words.

Trying not to think of what he had done to this man's chest a while ago.

But his face was flushed with the memory of his efforts, which he had been digging into to keep from the heat.

“What, what—”

“If it wasn’t for me, you’d be dead.”

My heart rattled at the blunt answer.

I was beginning to think that the heat that had been overtaken as if it were a fire, was not his mistake, because the situation was completely calm and the surroundings seemed to be peaceful.

But Carina was really close to dying.

Left behind two children waiting for her only in that dark, filthy inn.

In other words, this man was a silver person of her and her children.

She pursed her lips to say thank you, but the shock was so great that no sound came out of her mouth.

“If I hadn’t stopped the runaway, this would have shattered your body with the crab.”

The man said a word, then turned and said to the jeweler:

“Is it crazy to be a timely, dangerous thing?”

“...the duke, who has no blood on his head, is afraid to be careful of his words. Who knows that wife will appear?”

Carina froze from her seat.

Duke!

He was saved by a man who was a duke a little ago.

It was a story that would appear in a love story that the maids read until the newspaper was tattered, but it was not at all for Carina.

Lord Lenke's life at the mansion gave me one lesson.

Don't contact the nobleman in any way.

They do not treat commoners as people.

Even more if it's a bastard.

It was not just a story confined to Lord Rinke's mansion, but a story that came out of the history of Carina's past life.

It was not unrelated to Lord Lenke’s harshness toward his great-grandchildren.

His sister married a commoner.

Their children, Roland and Melissa, were called ladies and masters at Lord Rinke's house, but the identity itself was a commoner who had no title to inherit.

In the novel, Lord Lenke announced Roland as his successor to inherit his Baron, but it was a story of a far future.

Perhaps, like Lord Lenke, the nobles who treat the commoners as tools would have made you the world.

This man in front of him had no way of doing that either.

So what we had to do in this situation was simple and clear.

"Thank you, Mr. Duke."

After politely thanking, disappearing from the scene as fast as possible.

Carina was running out of the store as fast as she could, not looking at anything in the store.

“Stop.”

Carina turned slowly.

If the man had been Baron Doe, like Lord Lenke, Carina would have ignored the man and fled.

But who is the Duke?

‘The Duke of Tors is the only one—the Duke of Torres!’

In the duchy, the duke has a greater influence than the emperor.

In fact, the king of a country gave her a direct order to stop.

Carina turned around, with a death penalty like a death row sentence just dropped.

Duke Tors was also a person who set up a confrontation with Roland, who became an adult in a novel he had read in his past life.

Of course, Carina did not intend to blame Aman for the future that had not happened yet, but she was wary.

"Why did you try to run?"

“I didn’t mean to run away.”

Carina was not an idiot, so she immediately refuted the duke's words.

“I was just scared and I was going to get out of here.”

"What's scary?"

The Duke frowned, his eyes as if he had done nothing harm.

“Isn’t it unusual that it just happened, and it wasn’t scary? I was about to die, Your Grace.”

“I’m a good litter for a scared man.”

“I’m just that kind of person. I’m sorry if you were inconvenient.”

Carina pulled her mouth up.

The reason she could bear the pressure in Lord Kee’s house was that she had not buried the words in her heart.

The duke’s strength was, of course, not as great as Sir Lenke’s, but the same feeling Carina felt at the time and now.

If you can't avoid it, hit it.

“No, it’s not that bothering. It’s not that...”

Again, a panicked expression came up on the Duke’s face.

“Well, I hope all the questions are resolved. I’m going to go. The children are waiting at home.”

“...!”

The Duke’s face was hard. Carina turned again, her face anxious, her eyes glancing back.

The words that I did not know that a young widow had a child would be so surprising came to the end of her throat.

But Carina had enough restraint to not say anything useless.

“Wait a minute.”

This time it was the voice of a jeweler.

Carina cleared herself for a moment. Apparently, the jeweler and the duke were close.

Maybe the jeweller was a geeky nobleman who worked.

Unless he was out of his mind, no one in the commoner called him a child who was still dry of blood on his head, no matter how young he was.

The common nobles did not work.

I mean, I do not do anything that seems to buy and sell things directly to people.

So Carina naturally thought that all the shopkeepers on this store street were commoners like her.

'Somehow, I only pick someone who can distinguish between rubies and garnets.'

How do commoners divide rubies and garnets? Just know they're both red gems.

“What can I do for you?”

Carina turned to the old man, asking politely.

The old man narrowed his eyes and briefly studied Carina’s face.

“Mrs. Bloe, do you intend to work in my shop?”
